Wearing a tight bra tends to wear out fast, limit one's movement and resulting in serious pain. When you wear a tight bra, you're indirectly constraining straps and underwire which can create tightness and soreness in your shoulders and upper body. In a case whereby your bra is causing you discomfort, it majorly as a result of it not fitting you properly. However, who do you actually know if your bra is too tight? In this article, we'll share with you tell 5 signs that your fit issues result from your bra is tight, and how you can find your perfect size. 

Wearing a bra that's too tight hurts the wearer in diverse ways. 

1. Irritation or chafing

When a  bra is tight, it can causes a lot of skin problems, like dermatitis, hives, folliculitis and heat rash. In the case of when wearing a tight cloth rubs the skin, it causes excess irritation as well and inflammation of hair follicles. In some cases where there's bacteria or fungus on the skin's surface, it makes penetration even easier into these hair follicles, resulting in infection. The heat rash occurs when sweat ducts are blocked, while hives build-up through physical pressure on the skin.

2. You start feeling pains in your upper body

When the bra cup is too small, and the band is too loose, that's definitely a common bra fit issue, but when you wear an uncomfortable and unsupportive bra, it results in issues such as back and shoulder pain. Most people prefer to settle for loose bands, therefore tightening the straps too much which causes strain on the shoulder. A problem with tight straps is that one's skin issues worsening through overly tightened straps. When tight bra straps rub on benign skin lesions, the lesion is likely to swell or bleed, which will be very painful. 

3. When you can't even fit two fingers underneath the back band

90% of your bra's support should come from the band. You can then see the shoulder straps like a backup plan. Your bra hand should actually feel snug around your torso, you don't have to freak out that you could get back fat through the process. The right sized bra should be the one pushing your breast up and forward. You don't have to worry about getting indications in that area, it is completely normal. 

4. When the underwire of your bra is poking into your breast tissue

Your breast tissue is delicate, and the very last thing you'd want to do is irritating that area of your body, not even with an underwire. You particularly experience these signs when your bra is tight. In a case whereby your bra is not tight, the underwire of your bra would be sitting on your ribs and be in line with the middle of your underarm, and not elsewhere. As soon as you find yourself always adjusting your bra to sit on your ribs, obviously, your bra is tight. Your breasts should completely fit inside the cups, therefore letting your bra do what it's meant to do. 

5. When you start to develop acid reflux, then your bra is definitely tight.

1. Ensure to check the bra band

The normal level should stay around the rib cage, without having to rid up in the front or around your spine. You can actually test if the band fits you by using your fingers to pull the band away from your torso, there must be a 2-inch gap. You can also make some vigorous movements while testing the bra, just to be sure it's your perfect size. 

2. Check the bra cups

Your bra cups should be holding your breast firmly without bulging or gaps at the sides. Try bending also, your breast must stay in bra cups while bending.

3. The underwire or cup seam

In a case whereby your bra has an underwire, ensure you follow where your breasts naturally crease down to your underarm. The underwire shouldn't be staying on top of your breast. When the cup lifts but the wire doesn't crease, you should try somewhere else. 

4. The centre front

Ensure that the middle of your bra rests flat against your breastbone, this is very necessary

5. Check the bra straps

On no account should you get a bra that the straps slips or digs into your shoulders? You could actually adjust them, but if the adjustment doesn't fit, try something else.
